Objective data is essential in both chiropractic and physiotherapy for several reasons which are highlighted below. There is a positive trend in both fields towards incorporating more objective measures in practice that will ultimately improve patient outcomes and support a healthy business.
Diagnosis
Objective data helps chiropractors and physiotherapists accurately diagnose and understand the underlying cause of a patient’s condition or injury. It provides quantitative information about a patient’s range of motion, strength, flexibility, muscle imbalances, joint mobility, and other relevant factors. This data assists in identifying specific dysfunctions, formulating appropriate treatment plans, and monitoring progress over time.
Treatment Planning
Objective data guides the development of personalized treatment plans for patients. By utilizing measurements and assessments, chiropractors and physiotherapists can tailor interventions and techniques to address the individual’s specific needs and goals. Objective data helps determine the most effective treatment modalities, exercise programs, manual therapies, or interventions to improve patient outcomes.
Progress Monitoring
Objective data allows chiropractors and physiotherapists to objectively measure and track a patient’s progress throughout the course of treatment. By regularly reassessing key parameters, they can evaluate changes in range of motion, strength, pain levels, functional abilities, and other relevant markers. This information helps gauge the effectiveness of interventions, make necessary adjustments to the treatment plan, and motivate patients by demonstrating their progress.
Evidence-Based Practice
Objective data plays a crucial role in promoting evidence-based practice within chiropractic and physiotherapy. It allows practitioners to rely on objective measurements and assessments that have been scientifically validated and standardized. By using objective data, practitioners can make informed decisions based on research and clinical guidelines, ensuring the highest quality of care for their patients.
Documentation and Communication
Objective data provides a clear and standardized way to document patient information and progress. It facilitates effective communication between healthcare professionals, allowing for seamless coordination of care and continuity when patients are referred or transition between providers. Objective data also helps in communicating with insurance companies, demonstrating the necessity and effectiveness of treatments.
Patient Education and Engagement
Objective data can be used to educate patients about their condition, progress, and treatment outcomes. Visual representations, such as graphs or charts, can help patients better understand their current status and the impact of treatment. Objective data empowers patients by actively involving them in their own care, encouraging compliance with treatment plans, and fostering a sense of ownership over their health and well-being.
In summary, objective data in chiropractic and physiotherapy enhances diagnostic accuracy, aids in treatment planning, facilitates progress monitoring, promotes evidence-based practice, supports documentation and communication, and empowers patients through education and engagement. It is a critical component of providing effective, individualized care to patients. Kinetisense offers a practical, portable, and affordable solution to incorporate objective assessment seamlessly into your practise. With over 40 range of motion assessments, posturing screening, functional exams, and more, the opportunities to leverage objective data are endless.
Resources
Kinetisense is excited to announce a new data tagging feature…. CUSTOM FIELDS.
This advanced tool is designed to identify and group patients, clinics, and practitioners within an organization that can be filtered on the dashboard. This feature is an extension of existing information within the Clinic Information, Practitioner Profile and Patient Profile. Once this feature has been added to a license, the organization and practitioners will have the ability to add custom fields to the Clinic, Patient, Practitioner, and Assessments based on the set license feature.
These data tags can be linked to the organization’s dashboard to filter and group the information. The custom fields can include a numeric field with a min and max value, a generic text field, checkboxes, date fields, and a controlled list where users can create one or many values. Please see the examples below.
You can find the Clinic Custom Field under the tab TAGS when you edit a clinic.
You can find the practitioner’s custom fields under the tab TAGS when you create and edit a practitioner.
You can find the patient’s custom fields under the tab TAGS when you create and edit a patient.
To add this tool to your license, please email [email protected].
You will find a module scoring interpretation PDF which breaks down the scoring components for each of our modules.

There can be a number of different practitioners using one Kinetisense license, this is however limited to sharing one device per license. Kinetisense offers the ability for practitioners to be limited to seeing only patients assigned to them. This is a great way to maintain patient confidentiality and show a limited amount of patients per practitioner. There is an administrator account on each Kinetisense license, this is the credentials that Kinetisense provides to you upon purchasing a license. The administrator account has access to all patients and is the primary account most users will use. To create individual logins for practitioners, select the green “plus” button next to Practitioners. This is located on the left hand side of the screen and found underneath the clinic information.
When creating a new practitioner account please enter as much information as possible. The username and password created here will be the same username and password used to log into the Kinetisense application. Log into the new practitioners account and complete assessments as usual. The patients created in each practitioner’s account will only be able to be viewed by the practitioner who created the patients and the admin account. Please reach out to [email protected] if you are unable to add practitioners on your license because of an error message stating that “Your license does not allow for adding any new practitioners. Please deactivate an existing practitioner, or contact [email protected] to inquire about purchasing new practitioner seats.”
When creating a new practitioner account, there are two methods available for transferring patients between practitioners:
The first way is to select the patient you would like to be transferred, select the “Actions” drop down located within the patient profile and to the top right of the screen. From there you will see “Transfer” this allows you to select which practitioner you would like to transfer the patient to. Please sync your account after transferring a patient to ensure they will appear in the practitioner’s account.
The second option is to edit the patient profile. Select the “Actions” drop down located within the patient profile and to the top right of the screen. Select “Edit” to edit a patient’s profile. In the edit a patient profile screen there is a practitioner option to select which practitioner you would like the patient to be displayed under. Please sync your account after transferring a patient to ensure they will appear in the practitioner’s account.
