Difference in Protocols and Protocol Templates

The Kinetisense Corrective Engine allows you to create a protocol and protocol templates. There is a slight difference between these two features. A protocol is an individualized corrective program you will make for one patient, whereas a protocol template is a corrective program you can create and send to multiple patients.

Protocol templates allow you as a practitioner to create templates ahead of time that you can use for various patients, ultimately saving you time from having to manually create the same protocol various times for multiple patients.

How to Create a Protocol

  1. Navigate to the patient profile you would like to send a customized protocol to.
  2. Go to the protocols tab under the patient’s name.
  3. Select “Create” and “Add New.” You can now name the protocol and then press “Add Corrective.”

  5. Once you have chosen all the correctives you would like to send to your patient, select the green “Add” button at the top right. You can now edit the reps, sets, rest duration, time and sides. Each corrective also has a video and instructions with it. If you wish to view the video or instructions you can press the green play button next to the title of the corrective.
  6. Now, select “Next” at the bottom right of the screen. Finally you can edit the start date, end date, times per day and any additional instructions or precautions you deem necessary to add.
  7. You can now save, publish or email the protocol to your patient.

How to Create a Protocol Template

  1. Navigate to the menu button in the top left corner of your Kinetisense home page.
  2. Select “Tools” and then “Protocol Templates.”
  3. At the top right corner, there will be a green plus sign. Select this and begin to create your protocol template. Add the protocol name, correctives and any additional instructions or precautions. Press “Save.”

Heel Raise Module and Clinical Reasoning

We are thrilled to introduce our latest module, the Heel Raise feature, designed to dive deep into Achilles rehabilitation and injury risk assessment.

This innovative addition to our platform offers comprehensive insights into the Achilles tendon, providing valuable clinical reasoning for practitioners.

The Heel Raise test is a fundamental tool used to capture ankle plantar and dorsi flexion strength and endurance. It evaluates the combined action of the soleus and gastrocnemius muscles of the calf, essential for various functional movements. Originally employed to assess the function of the calf muscle-tendon complex, the Heel Raise test remains relevant today as a means to objectify treatment outcomes during initial assessments and throughout the rehabilitation process.

With the Heel Raise module, practitioners and trainers can now access detailed information on plantar flexion and dorsi flexion, enhancing their understanding of ankle biomechanics. This accessory information, though not directly related to scoring, offers valuable insights into overall lower limb function.

In the realm of clinical performance, the research literature commonly recommends 25 heel rises as the target norm for healthy subjects. However, it’s essential to note the variability in values suggested across studies and textbooks. Ranging from 7 to 48 heel rises, these variations underscore the complexity of assessing ankle strength and endurance and emphasize the importance of individualized care.

As we embrace the Heel Raise module, we invite you to explore its capabilities and integrate it into your practice. Whether you’re focused on rehabilitation, injury prevention, or performance optimization, this module offers valuable tools for enhancing patient care.

Stay tuned for more updates and insights as we continue to innovate and empower healthcare professionals and perfomance teams worldwide.
