Parascak Family Chiropractic

Recently Dr. Brad Parascak of Lethbridge, Alberta sent us an email that began:

I wanted to share with you that Kinetisense is live in our clinic! Patients are loving the technology and we haven’t even shown them KAMS or concussion baseline yet. I got approval with minor hockey today to start baseline testing for all 9 of their elite teams that they will fund me directly. We will then prepare packages for the other teams and they can fund the testing independently if they want to. Pretty darn excited at the moment!!”

Dr. Brad Parascak

We wanted to know more and so we sent him some questions. First, let’s get to know Dr. Brad better:

Question: What is the main work you do in your clinic?

Dr. Brad: The main work we do is focus on the detection and correction of spinal subluxations to promote the optimal neurological function of the entire body! We had already been doing digital x-rays and nerve scans. Now we provide full body functional movement testing with Kinetisense to everyone that comes through our door!

Question: Is there anything else that your clinic is noted for?

Dr. Brad: We serve a lot of families and young children in our office. With post-graduate training through ICPA upon graduation I have been able to confidently help expecting moms and newborns receive the best possible chiropractic care. We have been voted the Best of the Best Lethbridge Chiropractor for the last 3 years and won every year since we started to participate in the contest. This is a big honour for me as we have lots of great chiropractors in our community doing good work as well.

Question: When did you start working with sports teams?

Dr. Brad: When I graduated from chiropractic college and moved back home to start up my practice I devoted my time to the local AAA Midget Hockey program as a trainer and assisted the coaching staff for a few years before I got too busy to make time for this and manage time for my family and practice. Since then with my daughter being in dance and my son in both competitive hockey and baseball I have been able to attract athletes into to the office just from being around their activities. I currently sponsor, support and provide chiropractic care to the local Women’s Football Team. I love working with sports teams but for me, I take pride in taking care of athletes that play multiple sports and helping them function at their best.

Question: You’ve recently installed Kinetisense in your clinic and have already seen it making a difference in your clinic. Can you tell us more about that?

Dr. Brad: The technology is so simple to use once you decide how you want to implement it into the office. I love the fact that Kinetisense has so much to offer that there are so many ways to make it work in the office depending on what you want to do. Assessing posture and range of motion using Kinetisense provides quantitative data that we can easily share with our patients and be able to make better comparisons between different assessments instead of just guessing. Performing balance tests using the software has really opened our patients’ eyes to how important their nervous system is and how we as chiropractors truly are making a difference for them. The biggest thing is because the patients are actively involved in the testing process with Kinetisense that they are asking better questions and see more value in how we can help them.

Question: Now that you are using Kinetisense, how much are you using traditional tools like the goniometer or inclinometer?

Dr. Brad: I don’t use them anymore since Kinetisense does it all for me.

Question: Many chiros have well-trained eyes and are able to do helpful if not always accurate assessments on visual analysis alone. Will Kinetisense change the way you do visual assessments?

Dr. Brad: We don’t do visual analysis of posture or range of motion any longer. The best part is my chiropractic assistant can do the posture and range of motion testing and use the other applications within Kinetisense while I am taking care of other patients.

Question: What are your plans on using Kinetisense outside the clinic?

Dr. Brad: I am currently working with Lethbridge Minor hockey to do baseline concussion testing for all the elite athletes. I am planning to work with other local sports associations to do the same for them. From there I look forward to working with local gyms to offer KAMS testing. Kinetisense has so much to offer and a great way to educate our community on how important proper function is and that chiropractors have so much to offer them towards their health.

Question: Do you have any plans to use Kinetisense in your orthotics?

Dr. Brad: Interesting that you asked. Before seeing this question I talked to my team at the office and told them we should measure our patient?s balance before and after they receive their orthotics so that they can truly tell the difference it has in their spinal stability and neurological balance throughout their entire body so that they don’t think it is just about their feet. Kinetisense is such a great system as it tells you how your whole body is functioning.
